Bobbie Marie Kennedy
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, Bobbie Marie Kennedy of Pasadena, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 8th, 2017, after a life marked by love, loyalty, friendship and generosity.
Bobbie was born on May 2nd, 1937 in Johnson City, TX to Rowene Dildine Gourley and Louis Gourley. As the 7th of 8 siblings – all of whom preceded her in death - she spent her early childhood with them on their Miller Creek Farm and Ranch, eventually moving to Dripping Springs.
In the summer of 1953, she met William E. Kennedy while visiting her sister in Harlingen, TX, and the two were married on April 17, 1954. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past April.
They eventually moved to Deer Park, TX where they raised their two sons, born 16 months apart. Over the past twenty years, Bobbie became known for her weekly “Monday Night Dinners.” Every Monday night, week after week, she prepared amazing meals for her family. In Bobbie’s house, the term “family” went beyond blood relatives. She embraced and welcomed the friends of her children and grandchildren as well.
Preceded in death by her son, Robert S. Kennedy, she is survived by her husband, William E. Kennedy; son William E. Kennedy, II of Pasadena; granddaughters Kimberly N. Kennedy of Kemah and Samantha P. Kennedy of Houston; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and others who loved her so dearly.
The family would like to extend its appreciation to “Heart 2 Heart” Hospice for their assistance and care during Bobbie’s last weeks. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to The Salvation Army.
