Billie Wimberly of West Columbia, TX passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on November 16, 2015 at 11:50 AM. Billie was 87 years old.
Billie is survived by his wife Barbara of West Columbia, TX, children, Kay Dawn Walker of Katy TX, Gary Wimberly of Richards, TX, and Dusky Fellers of Huntsville, TX, his five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Billie was born on October 11, 1928 in Roane, TX to Jay Edward & Willie Mae Wimberly. He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1945 and at 17 years old he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served at the United States Naval Base in Pearl Harbor. After serving in the military Billie returned to Wichita Falls, TX and became a police officer. He later returned to Pasadena TX and married his loving wife Barbara on January 3, 1953.
Billie had an illustrious career in Engineering where he worked for some of the largest Engineering Companies in the world and participated in several World Class Projects in Oil & Gas. Billie was an accomplished leader and a dedicated hard working individual.
In addition to his Engineering career Billie’s passion was Rodeo announcing, participating as a Lifetime Director in the Houston Livestock Show for 45 years, being the President of Texas Youth Rodeo Association in 1979, as well as horse shows, and youth rodeo, riding club President and raising horses. He also provided color commentating for the Bay City Black Cats football team for several years.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for December 4, 2015 at Bethel Presbyterian Church 119 County Road 300G, West Columbia, TX 77486 at 10:00 AM, with a reception to follow in Bethel Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Billie’s life.
