Billie Jane Parker
Billie Jane Parker of Pasadena, Texas passed away May 9th, 2018 in Houston, Texas.
Billie was born June 20th, 1932 in Brownwood, Texas, daughter to William Harrison Burchett and Laura Jane Burchett. She married her husband, Donne R. Parker 20 years later on May 12, 1952, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her three children; Janet Parker Burch and her husband Pete, Mary Jane Connell and her husband Fred, and Bill Parker and his wife Elyse. She has four grandchildren; David Burch and his wife Chesley, Laura Burch, Lauren Homan and her husband Ben, and Ashlyn Egger and her husband Marcus. Billie also leaves behind three great grandchildren; Gavin Barrett, Avery Williams, and Aaron Williams.
Billie was especially blessed being raised as an adopted child of two wonderful parents who loved her very much. She was an only child who often longed for a sibling. She was blessed to find her baby sister, Patsy, who she cherished, at the age of 72 and a bond was instantly formed.
Billie Jane was a loving mother who was involved in her children’s lives. She was a room mother for many years for each of her children. She was involved in Girl Scouts for Janet and Mary and was a baseball team mom for Bill. She was also a much-loved band chaperon for Mary & Bill. She never missed a choir or band concert, or musical for any of her children or grandchildren.
Billie also served in the women’s World War II Auxiliary supporting her mom and dad.
Billie had an active life outside of her family. Her most loved jobs were being the curator at the Battleship Texas and being a teacher’s aide where she not only helped the teacher but was able to fulfill her love of being with children. She was also involved in crafts with her many friends and her home was filled with laughter as they created things. In the years prior to her husband’s passing, they spent many cherished hours together creating their works of art and love. One of their favorite crafts was wooden ornaments. They would create the designs together, Donne would cut the pieces and Billie would paint them. Then together, they would lovingly assemble them. Homes of her family and friends are filled with these cherished pieces.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be the following individuals: David Burch, Marcus Egger, Ben Homan, Gavin Barrett, Mark Banks and Fred Connell.
