Betty Louise Puckett
Betty Louise Mapes Puckett, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2017 after a long battle with illness. Born on May 5, 1946 in Nashville, TN to Ronnie and Louise Mapes.
Betty was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and loving grandmother. She was the praying matriarch of the family, taking great joy in caring for her children and grandchildren and raising them with faith. She was also a stroke and breast cancer survivor, being a wonderful encourager to others with similar diagnoses. She would tell them to “keep faith and it was not necessarily a death sentence.” Betty was known as a great prayer warrior and woman of faith. Many people would call her in time of need for prayer. Her family feels blessed by her faith.
In the end, Betty loved watching her favorite TV show, the old MacGyver; looking at hummingbirds, and spending time with her family.
Betty is proceeded in death by her husband, Richard Puckett, her parents, Ronnie and Louise Mapes, her brother, Donnie Mapes, her sister, Linda Faye Mapes Dacus.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Blair and husband, Mack, her son David Puckett, Sr and wife, Sauntia, her grandchildren, Kristy Blair, Carissa Puckett Levingston and husband, Nikki, David Puckett, Jr., Tiffany Blair, and Serena Puckett, her sisters Beverly, Maria, Valerie, Rosie, and brother, John.
Guests are invited to share in a Celebration of Life Visitation from 2-3:00 p.m., on Friday, December 29, 2017 with 3:00 p.m. Funeral Services to follow at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, TX 77591
