Barbara Ann Hatter-Helms
Barbara Ann Hatter-Helms was born December 22, 1950 in Brazoria, Texas to Louis Helms, Sr. and Lena Mae Smith Helms. Barbara attended schools in the Columbia-Brazoria Independent School District and graduated in 1969. Barbara also attended Massey Business College in Houston, Texas. Barbara worked for the United States Postal Service. Barbara was a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Brazoria under the leadership of Rev. A. H. Beck and Jerusalem Baptist Church in Brazoria under the instruction of Rev. E. S. Fields. Barbara passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas.
Barbara is preceded in passing by her parents, Louis Helms, Sr. and Lena Mae Smith Helms; her paternal grandparents, Alonzo Helms and Addie Jammer Helms and maternal grandparents, Texanna Williams and Phillip Smith, Sr. and brothers, Louis Helms, Jr. and Curtis Groves.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Earl Kenneth Alexander, Terrance Dixon and Avery Helm (Stacey); siblings, Corwin Davis (Camilla), Armond Davis (Bethany) and Clara Johnson (John H.) of Brazoria, Benjamin Brown of Houston and Brenetta Tolbert (Arthur) of Cedar Lake, Texas; grandchildren, Kayden Dixon, Anthony Dixon, Torie Thomas, Ansley Artis (Brandon) and Kennedy Alexander; uncles, Phillip Eugene Smith of Ft. Worth, Texas, Ronnie Smith (Sandra) of Houston and Joseph Moore, Sr. (Alice) of Brazoria; aunts, Bonnie Helms of Galveston, Texas, Esther Ridley and Debra Carpenter (Everett) of Ft. Worth, Orlean Blue and Gwendlyn Syle of Houston and Eliza Smith of Angleton, Texas; godchildren, Quinton Bell, Jr. of Brazoria and Kimberley Easton of West Columbia, Texas; godmother, Cora Goodwin of Brazoria; godsisters, Grenda Monroe of Houston, Debra Burnett of Brazoria and Evelyn Austin of Cedar Lake; special friends, Bettie Morgan, Melo White, Napoleon Spiller and Douglas Alexander and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway Texas City, Texas 77591. 409-986-9900. All memorials may be sent to the funeral home.
