Antonia M. De La Cruz, 90, went home on Friday, January 1st, 2016. She was born September 1, 1925 in Eagle Lake, Texas. “Momo” was a mother, grandmother, and friend. She was married to Juan V. De La Cruz for 32 years and was a resident of Texas City since 1954. Antonia was a very caring woman who loved her family, friends, church and God with all her heart.
She is preceded in death by parents, Julia and Pedro Murillo, beloved husband, Juan V. De La Cruz, numerous siblings and other family members.
Survivors include children, Rita (Luz) Zabala, Martin De La Cruz, Juanita D. Gonzales, Juan Manuel (Alicia) De La Cruz, and Michael Anthony (Erika) De La Cruz; seven grandchildren, Alexander C. Zabala, Melanie D. Nowlin, Gabriela G. Gonzales, Gabriel F. Gonzales II, Cody De La Cruz, Mathew and Philip De La Cruz. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Gage and Gavin Zabala, Jameson Nowlin, and Anthony and Mya Gonzales; sister; Carole Murillo, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the 5th floor Rehab staff at Mainland Medical Hospital, and the staff of Compassus Hospice, Deborah, Delsa, and Danielle.
Visitation will be held January 5th, 2016 from 5-8PM with a Reciting of the Rosary at 7pm at Carnes Funeral Home-Texas City. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal on January 6th, 2016 at 1 PM, 1604 9th Ave N. Texas City, TX. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, TX.
