Annie Shulak Steinocher

Annie Steinocher

Annie Shulak Steinocher, age 102, went home to Jesus on Thursday, December 17,2015. Annie had a brief decline and passed away at Evening Star in Alvin, Texas. Annie had been a longtime resident of the Richmond/Rosenberg area. She was born on January 04, 1913 in Shiner, Texas to John Shulak and Lillie Lovell Shulak. She was a member of New Covenant Fellowship Church in Rosenberg.

Annie was married to Edward Steinocher. She had one son Edward Jean Steinocher. Annie was a mother and a homemaker. She loved to put a big spread of food on the massive farm table in the dining room. It would be laden with fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, homegrown smothered corn, tomatoes and iced tea. Of course kolaches and apple strudel were the finishing touches to the delight of friends and family.

Annie was also an enthusiastic flower gardener. She was always happy to get a new plant or cutting, or to share her plants with others.

Later in life Annie and her husband Edward worked for Lamar Consolidated. Annie met Deyla Silva at work and they remained friends to the end. Annie retired around 80 after her Mother died. She decided to retire so she would have time to enjoy life. And enjoy it she did. She visited back and forth with her cousin Edna. They even made a few little road trips. Annie had once complained to Edna that Edna had two daughters and she should give one to Annie. However the Lord always provides. Annie ended up being cared for by both of Edna's girls, Peggie and Bonnie. Annie loved every minute of it.

Annie moved to Ft. Bend Gardens in her mid 90's. It was a great place to finish life. She made many friends. Annie had a way of attracting friends. She did not outlive all of her friends...because she kept making new ones. Thanks to Viola Edwards who checked on Annie pretty much daily, Annie was able to live independently to the end. And the weekly visits from Rosalie Byrd were always enjoyed.

Annie was preceeded in death by her parents John and Lillie Shulak, her husband Edward Steinocher, her son Edward Jean Steinocher, four brothers: Victor, Joe, Johnnie and Oscar Shulak, and one sister Virgie Woodrome.

Annie is survived by her brother Melvin Shulak, a prodigal grandson Jeffrey Steinocher, two neices: Virgie
Barta and Lillie Kouba, and two cousins: Peggie Nagel and Bonnie Calkins.
