Anna Rose Day
Anna Rose Guidry – Day was born September 3, 1937 in LaFayette, LA. To the late Horace and mary Matthews. She was the eleventh of sixteen children.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Willie Guidry Jr. In this union they were blessed with six children.
She was baptized at St Marks Baptist Church and later joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member for 30 years. At St. John she served as president of pastors aid, vice president of the usher board and was also over culinary. She became a member of the St Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev, John Guidry where she served on the usher board until her death.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, godmother and friend. She was an excellent provider making sure her family had everything they needed. Her ministry was the ministry of help. She made sure she was accessible to everyone in need. She had a Jambalaya Seafood Restaurant and was known to everyone as “Mama Gumbo” and for cooking good food.
Anna Rose was preceded in death by her husband Willie Guidry Jr., her son Willis Guidry, her granddaughter Kailynn Boclair, her parents Horace and Mary Matthews, two brothers; Horace and Aaron, six sisters; Dorothy, Alberta, Leona, Mary, Florence, and Hilda.
