Angela Rene Rose Turman

Angela Turman

Angela Rene Rose Turman, age 59, trading her cross for a set of wings, entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2019 after a short battle with gallbladder cancer.  Angela passed away at home in Fresno, TX, with Ronnie her one true love and Jolie her sweet pit bull both at her side. Angela was born in Houston, TX on January 6, 1960 to Billy Gene and Margaret Joyce (Schoppe) Turman.  After graduating from John Foster Dulles High School in Stafford, Texas in May 1978, Angela attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX where she received her BA in Business/Accounting in May 1984 and was a lifetime member of the SFA Alumni Association. Angela’s last loving gift was to give her body to UT Health Science Center at McGovern Medical School in Houston.

Upon graduation from SFASU she worked as an accountant at Shaw and Associates in Houston.  She later joined her father at the family business as an accountant and office assistant for many years, after which she did contract accounting until 2018 when she became ill.

Angela and Ronald Calvin Spell were married on August 19, 1989, in Manvel, Texas. Ronnie and Angela were best friends and their complete love for each other created a special bond through sickness and health.  Angela was a loving step mother to Chad Spell and Ashley Spell Mendoza and had the greatest love for her step grandchildren, Brianna and Christopher.

Angela loved red roses, lilies, and “chocolate” candy.  She decorated for every holiday!  Holiday candy dishes were always out with chocolate for her, Ronnie and guests.  She enjoyed traveling, especially to Vinton, LA, Las Vegas, NV, and cruising from the Gulf of Mexico.  Her other pastimes included ‘rocking out’ to her expansive music collection of vinyl and CDs, attending concerts, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where she saw her most prestigious concert – Elvis Presley. She loved shopping, especially for gifts for others, swimming, sunnin’ at the pool, and going to the beach.  Angela loved poetry and was a published author of her own book of poetry. Family was very important to her. She loved holiday gatherings, weddings, Farmino parties, and Houston Texans, Rockets, Astros and Cougars game days.  She cherished attending milestone celebrations for her stepchildren, step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Angela had great affection for many animals over her lifetime.  She fostered and adopted two rescues, Julianne and Jolie.  Her baby, the sweetest Pit Bull ever, Jolie, was her constant companion.  Angela was the family babysitter to many dogs, two horses, fish, a guinea pig, and an iguana!! She looked forward to taking care of them whenever she was asked.

Angela was an extremely generous person. She donated to numerous charitable organizations of which included the American Cancer Society, MD Anderson Cancer Center Research, the SPCA, Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Fr. Flanigan’s Boys Town, the Fort Bend County sheriff’s department, First Baptist Church of Fresno, Open Door Mission, and Wounded Warriors.  She always gave gifts and home-made cards to family and friends without occasion.  Angela was so joyful and grateful when she received a card, especially in her final months of life.

Angela was preceded in death by her father Billy Gene Turman, her mother in law Dorothy Elizabeth Simmons, both maternal and paternal grandparents, and many loving aunts and uncles, three 1st cousins, three 2nd cousins, and two 3rd cousins from both sides of her family.
