Amalia "Molly" Marie Peters

Amalia Peters

Amalia “Molly” Peters, age 95, passed away on Friday, February 24th, 2012 at Compassionate Home Care, a loving home in Kingwood, TX.

She was born on July 31st, 1916 in Flatonia, Texas, one of eleven    children. She grew up on the family farm and learned at a young age the importance of her Catholic faith and the values her parents instilled in her.  She loved all of her siblings, especially her brothers, Laddie Okruhlik and Fr. Theophil Okruhlik, an Oblate missionary priest.

She later met and married Jeffery Peters. Together they raised seven children.  She loved her children and instilled in them her deep faith in God, her work ethic and her love of growing flowers and plants.

In 1986, Molly’s husband passed away.  She continued to live alone, content to cook, tend her flowers and attend church functions.  She enjoyed  visits from family members, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She survived breast cancer and a terrible car accident that left her permanently disabled.

In later years she began to suffer from dementia. When her physical and mental limitations required her to have full time care, she moved to Compassionate Home Care in Kingwood.  She adjusted to her new environment and her loving caregivers enjoyed her sense of humor.

Molly is preceded in death by her husband, Jeffery Peters and two daughters, Jeanette Adelman and Diane Crawford of Littleton, CO. She is survived by two sons, Mike Peters and Jerry Peters of Houston; three daughters, Phyllis Shupak of Grand Junction, CO, Joan Bowman of Loveland, CO, Susan Carter of Houston; four sons-in-law, Lanny Adelman, Dale Crawford, George Shupak and Jack Bowman of CO; daughter-in-law, Carrie Peters of  Houston; grandchildren, Greg Peters, Tim Peters, John Adelman, Jennifer Johnson, Lisa Crawford, Julie Goolsby, Kelly Shupak, David Shupak, Heather Pilkington, and Chris Bowman; ten great-grandchildren and her sister, Martha Clisbee of Jacksonville, TX.
