Alton Bridges

Alton Parker Bridges of Houston Texas passed away on February 2nd, 2018 peacefully with family by his side after a long hard battle with Cancer. Born in Nacogdoches, Texas October 23, 1950 to Ernest James and Katherine Laverne Bridges. He was preceded in death by his parents, his 3 brothers Shenandoah Bridges, Houston Bridges, and his beloved Ernest Bridges Jr., his sisters Larretta Ann Bridges, and Wanda Bridges Thomason, his nephew Atoija Bridges Jr., and his great nephew Easton Lobb-Bridges.

Alton attended MacArthur High School. He was an accomplished carpenter and ran his own business. Alton would help anyone in need. Always ready with good sound advice and willing to talk to anyone about anything, Alton had that gift of gab. He loved history, snow skiing, and the book of proverbs.

Alton is survived by his wife Paula Simpson Bridges and his 3 children: his daughter Lorrie Bridges Marder, her husband Bob Marder and their 2 children London and Grayson, his 2 sons John Bridges, his wife Lisa and their 2 daughters Angelina and Alyssa, and Steven Bridges, his  wife Juana Bridges and their daughter Felicity, his siblings Rickey Bridges Sr., Cathy Bridges Adams, Atoija Bridges Sr. and his wife Noreen, and Starlet Bridges, sister-in-law Rhonda Simpson Bridges, and many nieces and nephews.

Alton battled cancer for a long time and in fact was a 2 time cancer survivor. He was a man dearly loved and will be missed.

A Memorial Service will be held February 25, 2018 starting at 12 noon with lunch to follow.
