Alma Graciela Garcia Villarreal
Alma Graciela Garcia Villarreal, 80, joined her beloved husband and son in eternal rest on February 11, 2021.
She was born in Rio Grande City, TX on October 27, 1940, to Raul and Marina (Martinez) Garcia. Alma’s childhood was spent in Rio Grande City, Agua Nueva and Hebbronville. She graduated from Hebbronville High School in 1960 where she was a member of the band, pep squad, yearbook staff, Students of Science, and FHA. She went on to Texas College of Arts and Industries in Kingsville, TX to pursue a degree in Education. Alma married the love of her life, Ricardo Villarreal, on July 4, 1965. In the early years of their marriage, Alma was an elementary teacher while they lived in Laredo and Eagle Pass. They moved to Houston, TX in 1973. In addition to raising their children, Alma became a full-time administrative assistant for Ricardo when he started Ricardo Villarreal Bookkeeping and Tax Service in January 1977. Together they worked to establish a successful business that continues today under the ownership of their daughter, Venesa.
Alma was a Girl Scout leader, member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and a Eucharistic Minister who took communion to the sick and volunteered at masses held at the Golden Age Nursing Home for many years.
Alma enjoyed traveling, taking trips to casinos, visiting family and friends, but mostly LOVED being a grandmother.
Alma is predeceased by her father, mother, husband, son Ricardo Villarreal, Jr., brothers Raul H. (Nelida) Garcia, Juan R. Garcia, Javier J. Garcia and nephew Jaime J. Garcia.
Alma is survived by her daughter Veronica, husband Kyle Hein and their children Taylor, Alexa and husband Jacob, Ian and Aedan; her daughter Venesa, husband Lee Pamuk and their sons Coleman, Mason, Sutton, Ellis and Archer; her brother Francisco (Aurora) Garcia; her sisters-in-law Irma Garcia, Angelica Garcia, Oralia Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Houston, TX will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021, from 6pm to 8:30pm with the Funeral Mass beginning at 7pm. A visitation at Rose Garden Funeral Home in Zapata, TX will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021, from 6pm to 8pm with a Rosary beginning at 7pm. A graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 11am at El Ranchito Family Cemetery in Zapata, TX with interment following. Please bring masks as they are to be worn at all services per facilities’ guidelines.
