Alice Joyce Rhodes
Alice Joyce Rhodes, 91, passed away June 11th at the home of her granddaughter and grandson-in-law. She was born on March 24th 1929 to Lee Alma Askew. She met her husband, Gene Rhodes, while attending SFA. She was a long time resident of Jasper, Texas. She enjoyed sewing, reading, going for walks and loved talking on the phone. She was the kind of person that would give the shirt off her back. To say she was kind and giving wouldn’t do her justice. She never came across a person that she wouldn’t talk to and make friends with. She had the best sense of humor and wit.
She is survived by her special friend Foster Cannon of Silsbee, her daughters Paula Woods and husband Bert of Jasper, Brenda Kay Smith and husband Clinton of Leesville, Louisiana. She adored her grandchildren, Stacey Boucher and husband Cris of Groves, Michael Smith of Leesville, Louisiana, Andrea Avant and husband Jack of Tomball, Curt Smith and wife Mellissa of Jasper along with great grandchildren Bryce and Grant Boucher, Hunter and Dylan Smith. She was especially fond of her cat, Tina. A service will be held at a later date.
